The Arkansas Department of Economic Development Film Unit was created in 1979 to promote Arkansas to film, video, television and commercial production companies.

Services include:
-Providing information to filmmakers considering Arkansas, such as potential locations, agents and crew information
-Assisting filmmakers while in the state

-Accompanying them on scouting trips

Introducing them to community leaders, officials, landowners and others who can assist the production company
-Acting as liaison with other agencies and local officials
-Promoting interest and developing capability of filmmakers and local film commissions within Arkansas.
