About the NWA ADC

In March of 2002, four area creative professionals got together to create a club that would inspire those in the commercial creative industry. Their goal was to bring noted leaders in the industry to share their work.

The group was formed by Justin Williams, Ryan Hughes, Kasey Loman and Brandi Parker.

Within weeks the word had spread and the enthusiasm was contagious. A board was assembled and the additional goal was to encourage education and help students attain an understanding of what is expected.

The Northwest Arkansas Art Directors Club was modeled after the original Art Directors Club which started in New York City 84 years ago and has spawned other Art Directors Clubs around the world, including Tulsa, Washington D.C., Denver, Tokyo, Sweden and Italy.

In it's first two years, nine world reknown leaders in the field came to speak including Design Shaman Marc English, Pop Icon Chip Kidd, Designer Lowell Williams of Pentegram, Illustrator Anita Kunz, Multimedia designers MK12, designers from Fossil and the creators of the Creative Annual GUM 1 and GUM 2.

Additionally, the club hosted three Student Exhibitions and brought the New York Art Directors Club's 83rd Annual Traveling Exhibit to a local gallery called Iris Arts in Fayetteville.

The NWAADC was a sponsor of the 2004 Fayetteville Springfest and the members and board also participated in a local festival by doing face painting for kids (and adults).

The annual "BurgerTime" Summer Social and Christmas Social encourage the commercial creatives to get out and meet their peers and share their inspiration.
